The Best Place To Work As a Graduate

Graduate

A global graduate employment report has named Australia as the most lucrative place for graduates to find work.

Graduates in Australia earn an average annual salary of over USD $45,000, according to Marbella International University Centre (MIUC), and expect a minimum wage of USD $15 per hour – around £28,700 and £9.55 respectively.

The report, which is entitled Graduate Employment Around the World, placed Australia five places above the UK as a lucrative destination for graduates.

The top ten destinations were Australia, the United States, Germany, Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Ireland and South Korea.

Alongside minimum wage and average annual salary, the report also takes into account factors including employment rates, quality of life and working hours.

From 17 countries surveyed, an average score was taken to determine which have the best conditions for graduates seeking employment.

Salary-wise, Spain came top for those working in business roles, whilst Germany had the lowest working hours and the United States had the highest wages.

Faring badly in the list were Mexico, which has the longest working hours as well as the lowest minimum wage, Brazil, which has the lowest annual salaries on average, and Turkey, which has the lowest employment rate.

Monica Moso, sustainability science professor at MIUC, says that she hopes the report will help students to review their international options as the end of their course approaches.

She says: “There are a lot of other factors to take into consideration when choosing where to work – including visa requirements and cost of living – but we hope this acts as a starting point for planning future careers.”
