Tesla has reduced the price of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software from $12,000 to $8,000 in the United States, with CEO Elon Musk emphasizing the importance of self-driving technology.
Despite Musk’s optimism, achieving full self-driving capability has proven challenging amidst increasing regulatory and legal scrutiny. Earlier this month, Musk announced Tesla’s plan to unveil robotaxis on August 8, following reports of the company prioritizing robotaxis over a mass-market car.
Customers now have the option to purchase the FSD feature for $8,000 or subscribe for $99 per month, with Tesla recently lowering the monthly subscription price from $199 and offering a complimentary month to all customers.
In addition to adjusting FSD prices, Tesla has been reducing prices across its vehicle lineup in response to declining sales and heightened competition in the electric vehicle market. In China, Tesla lowered prices by nearly $2,000, mirroring its U.S. price adjustments.
